Mr. Lee (his name has been changed to protect his privacy) hails from the province of Guangdong in mainland China. He came across our website, liked what he read, got in touch with us and less than two years later him, his wife and children have relocated and immigrated to the United States - ahead of many other families who are still waiting for their turns to file immigrant petitions.
After Lee got in touch with us, we sprang into action right away. At every step of the way, we offered advice and provide recommendations. After getting Lee’s approvals and acting in effect as his agent, we did what needed to be done. First, we advised Lee of the different type of possible legal entities before we set up one that is suitable for the type of business he was going to get into. We even managed to reserve and register the exact business name as he desired. Next, we arrange for him to legally open a bank account under the business name, using our business address as a temporary measure - in order to comply with new anti-terrorist laws that were put in place following the 911 incident. Up to this point Lee hasn’t even set foot on United States soil.
At our first meeting with Lee, we provided him with no-nonsense, hard facts on what constitutes an “approved” Regional Center as envisioned by the Internal Revenue and the Immigration Services departments of the United States Government. After being reassured that we only works with approved / designated Regional Centers, arrangements were made for the transfers of funds from his China bank accounts to the United States.
We researched and advised Lee on the type of crops that are viable from a business standpoint. Of course we assured him that he is going to run the business, not really to work in it as a farm worker! Since Lee does not have the experience as a grower, we arranged for him to “hire” a professional management company that could provide expertise in the agricultural sector. Before getting his signature on it, we reviewed the terms of the management agreement to ensure that they are and will continue to remain favorable to him. We combed through a seven-year operational business plan, to try and come up with realistic benchmarks for the newly-hired professional manager. We make adjustments as needed to enable the professional manager to embrace the plan.
At the same time we set in motion Lee and his family’s applications for permanent residency in the United States. We track their progress until green cards were approved for him and his family members.
Even now, we keep an eye on developments in his business and have arranged for working capital financing with banks, etc. We analyze and interpret periodic financial statements provided. We also continue to help out in filing forms and documents to comply with legal requirements. Two years on, the Lee family is settled in sunny southern California, USA and the proud owner of a new, viable business in a new homeland.
